I checked and it seems that if you shutdown properly, that MAC OSX will not power back ON when you turn ON the power, so that means there is some "dirty" bit being set ON/OFF during shutdown. How to get Mac OSX to power on from an S5 state and guess what? IT DOES NOT WORK using the Belkin WEMO. Now there is still ONE outstanding problem. So this solves the S5 Power Problem for Bootcamp Windows on probably ANY Mac, since the Belkin WEMO will cut power and this will trigger the Power ON option. VIOLA!!! Now, I can turn on my Windows 8.1 Mac Mini from work and connect remotely using RDP or any other Remote Control application I set up. After everything installed, then make sure you go to "Boot Camp Control Panel" and under the Power tab, you set it to "Restart Automatically After a Power Failure". I installed Windows 8.1 using Bootcamp and all the regular stuff which you can look up elsewhere, but make sure you install the latest Bootcamp software/drivers. This is not required though and you can always just turn OFF, then ON when you want to wake your Mac Mini through the App. So that just ensures that my WEMO will ALWAYS be off when I go to my phone during the day. I programmed mine to turn OFF every morning at 7:00 am because I am NEVER up at that ungodly hour and I never stay up until that ungodly hour. I basically bought the Belkin WEMO Insight Switch, which allows you to turn ON/OFF the power remotely. So I won't bother documenting the S4 solution, unless someone REALLY wants to know but I got the S5 state working by "cheating", hahaha. Anyway.įurthermore, I got it to work now from an S5 state. ![]() Still, my search started here, so I will share my solution with you guys and let you enjoy the WOL goodness. I was only going to throw up a YouTube video or on a personal blog, because I checked and NO ONE has documented this solution. ![]() Dude, you did not share any solutions, but instead "suggested" what I might have done although I am not greedy and I came back to share my findings.
